Fun Factory  Fun Factory will begin on Wednesday September 13, 2017 Fun Factory is a fun filled program for children between the ages of 5 – 8 years old. This structured program is designed to support children in their communication and social development and allows kids to just have fun! Activities and events include: games, arts and crafts, baking and cooking skills, science and engineering, sports and recreation and so much more! Fun Factory is held every Wednesday evening from 5:30pm – 7:00pm in the Multi-purpose room at the Community Centre, 19 Market St. The cost per session is $15.00 or a $2.00 drop-in fee will apply. Each session runs for 9 to 10 weeks, depending on events and statutory holidays. Additional fees may apply for special events, e.g. science north trip, bowling, dances etc. All activities and events are implemented and supervised by staff and volunteers. Mindfulness Program Join us to learn how mindfulness can enrich your life. This practice will improve your emotional and physical well-being! We meet once a week for lighthearted discussions, sharing and mindfulness mediation practice in a safe non-judgemental environment. Come BREATHE with us…we meet Wednesday evenings 6-7:30pm in the lower of the MFRC. What is Mindfulness? Youth Corner will begin on Wednesday September 13, 2017 Youth Corner is a program for youth between the ages of 9-12 years old.  This program is designed to allow youth to have fun interacting with their peers while enhancing the development of social/emotional, communication, and leadership skills.  All activities are founded by youth, organized and supervised by staff.  Youth will have the opportunity to participate in coordinated events such as recreational and leisure activities and games and other social activities. Youth Corner is held every Wednesday evening from 7:00pm – 8:30pm in the Multi-purpose room at the Community Centre, 19 Market St. On a number of occasions Youth Corner will be held at the Teen Centre (Community Centre-19 Market St.) for youth to experience all the exciting things that are in store for them once they are of age to attend. Self-Compassion Yoga A perfect way to end your busy day! Join us in the lower level of the MFRC Thursdays 4:15pm-5:30pm for gentle self-compassion yoga and calming relaxation. We have a wide selection of board games, movies and video games as well as a stocked canteen. Join the Teen Council! We are always looking for new members.

Attention members of the Veteran Community - Become certified in Mental Health First Aid In support of the Veteran Community and in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada, a customized version of the Mental Health First Aid for members of the Veteran Community is being offered in your area. The training will be offered in collaboration with the North Bay Military Family Resource Centre and will be offered in English. Mental Health First Aid Veteran Community is the help provided to members of the Veteran Community developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. It does not train people to become counsellors or therapists and just like with physical first aid, we need to ensure that those most in contact with members of the Veteran Community can identify an emerging mental health problem and respond effectively in the event of a crisis. Join us to become certified in Mental Health First Aid Veteran Community. Members of the Veteran Community will receive this training at no cost. Seats are limited and registration will be on a first come first serve basis.
