The North Bay MFRC Second Language Training Program offered to military spouses, dependents, military members, reservists, retired military members, their spouses and DND employees is meant to meet your learning goals while enjoying the experience of learning a second language.
Classroom Instruction
Day or evening English and French classes offered throughout the year depend on the number of students interested, the availability of instructors and facilities. Our qualified instructors are experienced in following the Military Family Services (MFS)’s curriculum. Classes are held once a week. Cost is $10.00 per textbook. A refundable deposit of $50.00 is also required – cheques are preferred, made payable to North Bay MFRC and are refundable upon course completion. Evening classes are offered throughout the year except summer months. Child care subsidy is available.
Anyone wishing to register is invited to sign up by contacting Diane Sarrazin-Dubeau at 705-494-2011 ext 2056 or email, Diane.Sarrazin-Dubeau@forces.gc.ca
On-line Instruction
DMFS has embarked on a one year trial of online language training (Rosetta Stone method) made available through MFRC’s. The On-Line Language training is for civilian CF family members, who are unable to attend class-led learning due to the time classes are offered, or who require language training at a level not offered locally. All participants must possess a valid email address and the ability to self-guide and self-pace in an online environment. Participants must also be able to adjust computer settings and install/download plug-ins and software applications. For those whose computers do not have speakers, headphones can be signed out at the MFRC.
Dependents interested in registering for online instruction should submit their name and email address to: Diane.Sarrazin-Dubeau@forces.gc.ca .
They will be contacted directly by the Online Language Training Administrator in Ottawa who will activate their accounts.
