Mental Health First Aid Workshop

MFRC North Bay 39 Sterling Avenue, Hornell Heights

Attention members of the Veteran Community – Become certified in Mental Health First Aid In support of the Veteran Community and in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada, a customized version of the Mental Health First Aid for members of the Veteran Community is being offered in your area. The training will be offered in collaboration with the North Bay Military Family Resource Centre and will be offered in English. Mental Health First Aid Veteran Community is the help provided to members of the Veteran Community developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. It does not train people to become counsellors or therapists and just like with physical first aid, we need to ensure that those most in contact with members of the Veteran Community can identify an emerging mental health problem and respond effectively in the event of a crisis. Join us to become certified in Mental Health First Aid Veteran Community. Members of the Veteran Community will receive this training at no cost. Seats are limited and registration will be on a first come first serve basis. Date: November 29 and 30, 2017 Registration deadline:  November 20, 2017 Time:  8:30am-4:30pm Location:  Holiday Inn Express, Garland Room, […]

Event Series Mindfulness Program

Mindfulness Program

MFRC North Bay 39 Sterling Avenue, Hornell Heights

Mindfulness Program Join us to learn how mindfulness can enrich your life. This practice will improve your emotional and physical well-being! We meet once a week for lighthearted discussions, sharing and mindfulness mediation practice in a safe non-judgemental environment. Come BREATHE with us…we meet Wednesday evenings 6-7:30pm in the lower of the MFRC. What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.  “Mindfulness is a technique in which one focuses one's full attention only on the present, experiencing thoughts, feelings, and sensations but not judging them.” An interesting article to read on the benefits of mindfulness: https://www.everyday-mindfulness.org/the-benefits-of-mindfulness/ For information or to register please call Natalie Wiseman at the MFRC 705-494-2011 ext 2066
