Yes, the MFRC does accept donations such as toys, books, games, videos, cds. Items will be used either at the MFRC, Little Wings Child Care Centre or Teen Centre.  Income tax receipts are available.

 

·        Military Youth Support Group

 

Is your child between the ages of 6 and 12 having difficult with mom or dad being away?  Join us as we help children learn to deal with the emotional stresses of life through a program called Mindmasters.  For more information please call Linda at ext 2026 or check out our fall newsletter.

 

 

Fun Factory, Session ONE has now and will run until Saturday November 21, 2009.

 

For those of you, who are not aware of what Fun Factory is all about…. it is a fun filled program for children between the ages of 5 - 8 years old.  It will be held every Saturday morning for 1000 – 1200 in the Multi Purpose Room in the Community Centre.  The cost per session is $10.00 or a $2.00 drop-in fee applies.  This program is new and is designed to support children in their social development and allow kids to just have fun! All activities and events will be planned and supervised by staff. There is always a lot to do!  Come check out the new games and equipment!

This is not a new program, but the name has changed to the “The Youth Corner”.  Session one is now on and will run until November 17, 2009.

 

For those of you, who are not aware of what The Youth Corner is all about…. it is a fun filled program for youth between the ages of 9-12 years.  It is held every Tuesday evening, in the Multi Purpose Room at the Community Centre  from 1800- 2000hrs.  The cost per session is $10.00 or a $2.00 drop-in fee applies.  This program is designed to allow youth to interact with other youth their age and to just have fun!  All activities are organized and supervised by staff, but are founded by the youth.  Some of the nights will be coordinated events and other nights will be drop-in and relaxed, where the youth will have a chance to play Rock Band, play cards or just hang out and socialize. There is always a lot to do!  Come check out the new games and equipment!

·        Salvaging Sisterhood

 

This program is geared to help female teens effectively communicate while dealing with society’s social stresses.  This program will be held once a week for 8 weeks beginning in October.  For more information, please call Linda at ext 2026.

 

·        Upcoming! Assertiveness/Anti-Bullying Program

 

This workshop is designed for male adolescents to help youth feel good about themselves and to have the ability to stand up for themselves in a healthy respectful manner.  Space is limited, to register, please call Linda at ext 2026.

Find out for yourself and discover how one morning outside of your home can be rejuvenating.  Take time for yourself to meet new friends, get to know more of your community and believe in your dreams.  Child care is available for parents in need by calling Diane at ext 2668 ahead of time.  Hope to see you at our next get together on Wednesday, October 28th .  We will be going shopping in Sturgeon Falls.  Please meet at the MFRC at 915am. Children are invited.

 

·         Ladies Night Out

 

One of our most popular evening programs is back!  Join us every month as we dine out at our favorite restaurants around the city.  What a great way to relax after work, meet new friends, sneak away for a few hours from the hectic world of “mommy life” or just hang out with the girls! 

 

Our first outing will take place at on Tuesday November …..at  6 pm.  Remember to reserve your space ASAP by calling the MFRC at 494-2011 ext 2053 or email Diane.  (Civilian friends are welcome to join us).

Are you seeking medical attention and would like to avoid a long wait at our hospital Emergency Department?  Call the Lakeshore Medical Clinic in the morning for a same day appointment 495-4000.  Please note that this is NOT a drop in clinic.

Employment Services, located at 149 Main Street East, assists both adults and students find work.  The agency works with the following programs:  Second Career Strategy, Ontario Self-Employment Benefits, Ontario Skills Development, Ontario Targeted Wage Subsidy, and Job Connect. ·        Emergency and/or Respite  Child Care

For the purposes of the emergency child care program, an emergency is defined as any “sudden and unforeseen circumstance whereby a family is unable, due to time restrictions, to implement their “Family Care Plan”.

 

Emergency Child Care is available to CF families at all times, day or night.  If a family’s child care plan fails, MFRCs are authorized to fund up to 72 continuous hours of emergency child care.

 

Respite Child Care is a service offered to families of a deployed member.  MFRC’s are authorized to fund up to 72 hours of emergency respite child care.
